How is the Forest different after the sun goes down? How does the full moon affect nocturnal animals? Come learn this and more at our guided Full Moon Hike!

This program will include an educational discussion of the nocturnal animals around the Forest and a brief talk into the lore of full moons. The guided hike will proceed after the discussion. Please join us after the hike for a seasonal snack.

Are you an adventurous night owl looking to explore new trails? Join us in this unique opportunity to see the Forest at night! Don’t miss your chance to learn about the nocturnal creatures who call the Forest home while exploring new trails.

This hike is geared toward intermediate to experienced hikers (ages 16+) and will traverse at least two miles of moderate to difficult terrain, so please come prepared with appropriate clothing and gear. Our educators recommend the following, as applicable: long pants, tall socks, water bottle, bug spray, winter coat, scarf, and/or gloves. Please check the weather as you are preparing for this event – safety of our guests is our top priority.

Join us while we enjoy the peaceful beauty of the stars on a winter night at Neale Woods! This program includes a short hike followed by a guided stargazing experience where guests can use telescopes to observe the night sky.  Featured winter constellations include Orion, Canis Major, the Gemini Twins, Auriga, Taurus, and the stars that form the Winter Hexagon.  In addition, the planet Jupiter will be at its best evening view of the year.

This event will run from 6:00-8:00PM. Make sure to dress appropriately for the weather, wear good walking shoes, and bring a water bottle. Please bring a folding chair or blanket to sit on while stargazing and be ready to hike a short distance on easy to moderate terrain with your chair to our viewing area.
