Calling all birders to migration season at Fontenelle Forest! During the first few weeks of May, Fontenelle Forest hosts many migrating birds. During this program, we will start inside and learn to identify some key groups of songbirds, also known as passerines. Then, we’ll take a guided hike on the boardwalk and down to Child’s Hollow looking for these lovely songbirds and other spring migrants.
Birding enthusiasts are sure to enjoy searching for a variety of birds during this program guided by our knowledgeable volunteers and staff. Binoculars are available to borrow on a first-come, first-served basis. The program runs from 8:30am-10:30am. Expect a slow-moving hike on easy-to-moderate terrain around the Fontenelle Forest boardwalk and nearby trails.
