Birding Bonanza: Community Science Day

Birding Bonanza: Community Science Day

Are you passionate about conservation? Does community science pique your interest? Do you enjoy watching bird feeders or listening to bird calls? This might be the program for you!

Celebrate Migratory Bird Month at Fontenelle Forest with our Birding Bonanza: Community Science Day! Our naturalist educators will help you learn how to identify common and migratory birds by sight and sound. We’ll discuss how you can assist conservation efforts by counting birds at the forest and submitting the data. After learning the tools of the trade, we’ll go on a naturalist-led hike and count birds together – prepare for easy to moderate terrain and bring your binoculars! We’ll also have some binoculars to borrow on a first-come, first-served basis.

This program is geared toward amateur birders, new birders, and science-minded families. Many avenues of community science data collection are available as apps, so we encourage you to bring your phone!

Minimum of 10 and maximum of 30 people. Pre-registration is required.
